PRESS: Kaspersky testing own OS, to announce safe phone by 2021
MOSCOW, Dec 10 (PRIME) -- Russian antivirus maker Kaspersky has started testing usability of KasperskyOS in smartphones and plans to announce a protected device in late 2020 with demand expected only in the corporate sector, business daily Kommersant reported on Tuesday.
Grigory Sizov, head for development of the KasperskyOS business, said the company is working out a concept, studying business models and holding negotiations with manufacturers of chipsets and vendors.
The company speaks about a platform that will need no further security means. “The main principle of cyber immunity is that the cost of an attack on a device with the system should be higher than the damage caused. Everything can be hacked, but we should make it unprofitable,” Sizov said.
Demand for such solutions exists only in the corporate sector and is almost absent in the business-to-customer sector.
Information security group of companies InfoWatch of Natalya Kasperskaya developed a similar project under the Taigaphone brand, but the idea was curbed down due to poor technical features.
Sizov said InfoWatch’s project was “one more reincarnation of Android Linus,” and Kaspersky’s product is different and its operating system was created from the scratch.
